Reddit's Spooky Season Collectible Avatar NFTs Sold Out Fast

Reddit's second NFT collection, the Halloween-themed Spooky Season Collectible Avatar NFTs, sold out in two days. Reddit's first NFT collection took weeks to sell out.

The Spooky Season collection includes NFT Avatars designed by 23 artists from its Collectible Avatar Creator Program. For Reddit users who missed out on the public sale or don't have a credit card, Spooky Season avatars are now available for much higher prices on OpenSea.

Reddit's Collectible Avatars have proven quite popular. Reddit launched the NFT avatar program after the NFT boom ended, and the company's approach seems to be well adapted to the current market. Despite operating on Polygon, Reddit's NFTs can only be purchased from Reddit with a credit card. Also, Reddit's NFTs aren't auctioned, they're sold for fixed prices–roughly $10, $25, and up to $100. In fact, Reddit also gives away free NFT avatars to its users through random drops.

Before the Spooky Season drop, there were almost 3M wallets holding Reddit NFT avatars. Reddit managed to make a desirable NFT collection without the NFTs being particularly expensive or even remotely scarce.

About a day after the Spooky Season drop, it looks like the collection has done about 142 ETH in trading volume, according to Reddit user LeThaLxdARk. Here’s the volume for each artist’s work in the first day of trading since the drop:
